Arvesta, a leading agricultural knowledge centre with 2,300 experts and more than 40 strong brands, wanted to improve the efficiency and cost of their content management. Their goal was to consolidate all websites into one content management system (CMS) to increase cost effectiveness and operational efficiency. They asked competence centre Two Point O for help.
Uniform content management with Contentful
Arvesta’s marketers and IT department saw the possibilities of Contentful, a headless CMS, to streamline their content management. The plan was to move all websites to one Contentful space and unify content models across all brands.
By managing all websites on one platform with uniform design elements and content models, a more efficient way of working was introduced. Content managers can now work in a consistent manner, improving operational efficiency. Moreover, Arvesta saves significantly by using one platform with one licence fee, instead of multiple platforms with separate licence fees.
Automated content migrations
Our team developed an advanced version of the Contentful migration engine, which efficiently migrated the first 23 websites to a single Contentful space without any loss of content. This significantly reduced the resources required for the migration. Afterwards, the remaining 6 websites followed. The project is still ongoing, so further websites may be added in the future.
A composable architecture was chosen for Arvesta’s new webshop Aveve. Product management is carried out via Magento, while Contentful takes care of content management. By using APIs and custom content types, content managers can easily import products from Magento and enrich them with additional content in Contentful.
Improved communication & flexibility
The new set-up ensures improved communication and a clear overview of incoming and outgoing content. This is essential for departments such as finance and stock management. Using Contentful as an open source system also gives Arvesta the flexibility to easily add additional modules in the future. This allows them to quickly scale up and respond to new needs.
